Japan's train stations sell some of the best food in the country, and this book lifts the lid on it. Ekiben are the portable station bento sold from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, and Brendan Liew (the chef behind Konbini and Tokyo Up Late) takes you through more than 30 of them.
Alongside the history and the stories, there are recipes inspired by the bento, plus desserts, drinks and sides you can make at home, hot or cold. The cover is a riot of coral, teal and sunshine yellow, so it's every bit as fun to look at as it is to cook from.
